SALSA VERDE
Salsa verde is a staple in every Mexican kitchen. In Spanish salsa verde simply means “green sauce” and is primarly made with a distant relative of the tomato from Mexico, the naturally tart “Tomatillo” (pronounced “toe-mah-TEE-yo”). A tomatillo looks like green tomato covered with a husk and they have a slightly more acidic, slightly less sweet flavor than ripe and unripe tomatoes.

Blended with only a few fresh ingredientes as serrano peppers, cilantro, onion and garlic; our version of this salsa is zesty, tangy, and with a spicy flavor that can range from mild to medium tasting, depending on the spicy of the peppers.

In the cuisines of Mexico, it is often served with Mexican style dishes like enchiladas and quesadillas or as topping. Anything savory, salty, meaty is even better with salsa on top such as chicken, pork, grilled seafood, grilled or cooked veggies. You can even put salsa on a salad an calling a winning meal, and of course, any and all tortilla-based meals.
SALSA MORITA
Salsa Morita is a flavorful salsa made with dried Chile Morita as the star. Morita peppers are mildly smoky, sweet, and fruity with notes of blackberry (Morita translates to “little mulberry” in Spanish).

Our Salsa recipe is made from dried Morita Chiles and it is blended with Tomatillos, garlic and onion. As a result, you can enjoy a smoky, spicy and tangy delicious flavor. Our Morita salsa ranges usually from medium to hot.

It can be used a a cooking salsa, as well as a marinate on your meat or veggies of choice. It will also greatly complement any kind of grilled meat like pork, lamb, beef and chicken, and seafood as well. Think of shrimp, fish or scallops. You could use it as a dipping sauce or as topping on top of you favorite meals.
SALSA HABANERO
Our homemade habanero salsa recipe is fiery in all the right ways, made with roasted habanero peppers, tomatoes and garlic. The first thing you will notice when tasting our salsa is the heat slightly tempered by a sweet, fruity, and bold flavor from the roasted tomatoes and garlic. Even when it is very hot in spiciness, you will find our salsa to be with a lot of a unique flavor to go along with the extra-hot kick.

For people that enjoys hot and spicy sauces, they find our habanero salsa to be their favorite staple among our salsas.
SALSA MOLCAJETE
Molcajete salsa refer to a Salsa made in a “molcajete”, a traditional Mexican mortar and pestle made out from volcanic rock.

Molcajete Salsa is a traditional Mexican salsa made with roasted tomatoes and green Chiles. Our take in this recipe combines the flavor of Tomatoes, serrano peppers, garlic and onion. And as a result of all of the ingredients being roasted, the smoky flavors from charring add a bold flavor with a slightly chunky texture that is perfect to serve with many favorite Mexican dishes and as a delicious topping for any of your favorite dishes. salsa on a salad an calling a winning meal, and of course, any and all tortilla-based meals.
ABOUT
Cilantro was inspired by love for Mexican food.

In 2004, Maria Pacheco moved to Durham from Guanajuato, Mexico. She loved her new home, but she also greatly missed her native home. She found a creative way to bring her childhood flavors to North Carolina—and honor her roots—through uniquely crafted artisan salsas and a Catering menu using recipes passed down through generations of women in her family.

Cilantro Artisan Salsas are prepared the traditional way, using only fresh ingredients and made in small batches, ranging from mild verde, to rich and smoky, to spicy habanero. These salsas are a staple in every Mexican household, and now they can be a staple in yours, too.
